1 Corinthians 15:57
“Praise the Lord! Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.”
Our Father has given us so so so much to be thankful for, but sometimes we forget that everything we have is because of Him, not because of us. The best way for us to thank God for the things he has given us is by using those things for His glory -- by giving back in Christ's name. Or perhaps we just need a change in attitude, maybe we just need to look at things a different way.
Of course we are thankful for all of the good things in life like our family, houses, food, etc etc... But what about those things that we often complain about or those things that bring us down? Maybe we just need a change of heart... A change in the way we think about things.
Mary & Joseph could have complained about having to stay in a manger when Jesus was born, but I'm sure they were just thankful because the Man that would redeem them from their sins was going to be brought into the world.
Noah could have complained & been ungrateful for the ark that God commanded him to build, but he didn't complain and was very grateful when it started pouring down rain & he and his family were safes from the flood.
Jesus could have complained & not died on the cross for us. But He did & for that we will be forever grateful.
I'm thankful for needing gas because that means I have a car to drive & don't have to walk everywhere or ride a bike.
I'm thankful for lots of homework because that means I have teachers that care about me and want me to be successful in everything I do.
I'm thankful for arguing with my brother because that means I will always have a best friend.
I'm thankful for not being able to decide what to wear because that means I have a closet full of clothes to pick from.
I'm thankful for being ready to be done with high school because that means it has prepared me for the next level of education .
I'm thankful for arguing with my parents because it means that I have 2 people in my life who will always care for me and want the best for me.
I'm thankful for going through the valleys and hard times because it means that I have been on mountains and good times & that I have more mountains and good times to come. Be thankful for the trials because you never know what great things God has in store for you.
“My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials,”
I'm thankful Jesus because through Him I have hope of eternity in Heaven.
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."
What are you thankful for?
What if you woke up today with only the things you thanked God for yesterday?
I wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with lots of food, family & friends!
“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
I Thessalonians 5:16-18
