When troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete needing nothing. - James 1:2-4
Think back a few years to a time in your life when you thought you would never get out of a situation that drained you. Nothing was going right, and you just knew that God was not listening to your prayers. You thought this miserable feeling would never end. Do you have the situation in mind? Good. Now… is that situation the same today? Are you still in that cycle of being miserable and drained? Or has progress been made? Has God shown you a way out? Have you taken it?
Just like God delivered you out of that situation, He will deliver you out of your present one.
God hears our prayers all the time… no He doesn’t just hear them — He listens to them. The Creator of the Universe LISTENS TO YOU. He also knows what’s best for you, even though it might not be what you want. He knew what was best for you in this situation from the beginning of the world.
“Before I formed you the womb I knew you, and before you were born I blessed you…” - Jeremiah 1:5
Sometimes we just need to be reminded that everything is going to be okay. No matter what you’re going through. This too shall pass. What you’re struggling with today, I guarantee you won’t be what you’re struggling with in a year or two.
Now, I’m not saying that your struggles aren’t important because they are. The ups and downs you’re going through right now are God’s chisel and hands that are molding you into the person He wants you to become. But… don’t let these struggles consume you. Because you serve a God that went through the ultimate struggle — death on a cross — so that you wouldn’t have to fight these battles alone.
God is not going to let you walk through the fire and swim through the water alone.
After Shadrach, Meshach and Abendego stood up for God by not bowing down to the gold statue of King Nebuchadnezzar, they were thrown into a blazing furnace. They were literally thrown into a fire. but After they were thrown into the fire, they saw four men walking around in it. A Spirit of God was in the midst of the fire with them. When they saw this, the king said, “Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, servants of the Most High God, come out!” Through this fire that they had to go through, God was glorified. The king declared that the nation must worship the God that we worship. Our God can do the impossible. He can deliver us from the fire when the struggles of this world try to burn us up.
Moses’ parents put him in a river in order to hide him from Pharaoh since all of the Israelite baby boys were supposed to be killed. His parents had great faith to trust in God when their baby boy could have very easily drowned in that river. Pharaoh’s daughter found Moses and glory was brought to God because of Moses being in that river — in the water. When you feel like there is too much going on, know that God is with you. There is nothing you will drown in with God by your side except for His grace.
“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.” (Isaiah 43:2)
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” - Psalm 46:1
Because you hold fast to Him in love, He will deliver you; He will protect you, because He knows your name. (Pslam 91:14) Fear not, for He is will you; be not dismayed, for He is your God; He will strengthen you, He will help you, He will uphold you with His righteous right hand. (Isaiah 41:10) Trust in the Lord with ALL of your heart and lean not on your OWN understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths. (Proverbs 3:5-6) For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7) Even though you walk through the valley of the shadow of death, you will fear no evil, for His is with you; His rod and His staff, they comfort you. (Psalm 23:4)
“Therefore, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. Life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. Consider the ravens: they do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are that birds! Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?” - Luke 12:22-26
Everything is going to be okay. Our God is too powerful for it not to be.
