Let's be real... Life is gonna be hard. People are going to hurt you. Please are going to get sick. Your heart is going to get broken. Things will happen that will absolutely destroy you. I wish I could tell you otherwise, but Satan is too good at what he does to let us off the hook. But these challenges and obstacles are no big deal, Paul tells us. These afflictions are NOTHING compared to how AWESOME Heaven is going to be.
When Jesus was in the Garden of Gethsemane, He did NOT want to go through all of the pain and anguish He knew He was about to go through, but He prayed, "Father, if there is any other way, let this cup pass from me, but Your Will be done."
Hillary Scott has a song called "Thy Will" & of my favorite part is this:
"I know You're good; but this doesn't feel good right now. And I know You think of things I could never think about. It's hard to count it all joy distracted by the noise just trying to make sense of all your promises. Sometimes I gotta stop and remember that You're God, and I am not: so Thy Will be done."
That song reminds me that I HAVE to let go... God's plans are so so much greater than mine could ever be. We have to let Him guide us in our decisions, situations, relationships and let His desires become my desires.
Continuing with the idea of letting go.. Let's look at 2 Corinthians 7:10-11 -- For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, whereas world grief produces death. For see what earnestness this godly grief has produced in you, but also what eagerness to clear yourselves..."
Paul is writing to the Corinthians about the grief they had from their sin, the things they'd messed up doing. He wanted them to turn away from their sins.. Earlier in chapter 7, verse 1 says, "Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of bosh and spirit, bringing holiness to completion in the fear of God." Starting a new school year, going to college.. These are awesome opportunities to start over. To turn away from that one sin that is holding you back from being ALL in for Him. LET THAT SIN GO. Let it go!! So you can serve Him. Tonight is the night. Don't let it hold you down anymore.
Tonight some girls & I got together & wrote these things down, tied them to a balloon & let them go. We let go of control of certain situations in our lives & we let go of that one thing that has been holding us back. So tonight I urge you...
•Letting go• of the past & looking forward to what lies ahead. I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Jesus, is calling is. // Philippians 3:13-14
