John 15:16 says, “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in My name, He may give it to you.”
When Jesus was kissed by Judas in the Garden of Gethsemane, He chose to not fight back because He chooses you. When Jesus was standing before Pilate on trial, He chose not to get mad and call legions of angels to destroy the world and set Him free because He chooses you. When Jesus was beaten and mocked and spat upon, He chose not to get up and call God to save Him because He chooses you. Jesus chose to hang upon the cross with nails through his hands and feet, bear a crown of thorns pressed into his head, suffer as open wounds on his back scrape up against a splinter-filled cross, and gasp for breath because of suffocation because HE CHOOSES YOU.
“and the have fallen away; to restore them again to repentance, since they are crucifying once again the Son of God to their own harm and holding him up to contempt.” - Hebrews 6:6
That one day on the cross 2000 years ago was not the only time Jesus would suffer for you. Every day that we fall away and mess up, Jesus chooses to be crucified for you again and again and again.
This kind of love that Jesus has for us — is really hard for us to comprehend. He chose you then and continues to choose you now.
Jesus tells you to take up your cross and follow him, then He tells you to come to Him and lay your burdens upon Him. Every single day Jesus bears your cross for you if you let him. He chooses to do that for you; He certainly does not have to, but He does it anyway.
Do you choose Jesus every day your eyes open and your feet hit the ground? Do you choose Jesus in your heart, in your relationships will all of those around you, in your relationships with strangers? Do you choose Jesus in how you take care of your soul, in how you strive to do your best for Him now? Do you choose Jesus in your mind, in your thoughts?
Matthew 22:37 tells you to love the Lord, your God with all of your heart, soul, and mind.
If you choose Him now, He will choose you when you are standing before His and your Father at the end of your journey. You will have the pleasure of hearing Your Father say, “Well done, good and faithful servant. You were faithful with a few things, I will put you in charge of many things; enter into the joy of your master.” (Matthew 25:23)
“My chains are gone, I’ve been set free.. my God, my Savior has ransomed me — but like a flood his mercy reigns.. unending love.. amazing grace.”
